Find Your Perfect Fit: The Ultimate USTAR Cap Size & Measurement Guide

Find Your Perfect Fit: The Ultimate USTAR Cap Size & Measurement Guide

There is nothing worse than ordering a beautiful lace wig only to find it sliding back on your hairline or squeezing your temples tightly. A great wig experience starts with one thing: the fit.

At USTAR, we want you to wear your unit with confidence. While 95% of customers fit into a "medium/average" size, taking a few minutes to measure your head ensures you get the most natural, secure look possible.

Here is your 2026 guide to measuring your head for a lace wig.

Before You Start: Prep Your Hair

You cannot get an accurate measurement over a bulky ponytail or loose afro.

  • Flatten your hair: braid it down, mold it, or wrap it exactly how you plan to wear it under the wig.

  • Use a soft tape measure: A cloth or flexible plastic sewing tape is required. Do not use a metal construction tape!

How to Measure Your Head (The 6 Key Measurements)

Follow these steps to determine your exact size. If possible, have a friend help you to ensure the tape stays flat.

1. Circumference (The Most Important!)

This determines the total distance around your head.

  • How to measure: Place the tape measure at the center of your front hairline. Run it behind your ear, down to the nape of your neck, up behind the other ear, and back to the front hairline.

  • Tip: The tape should sit exactly where the wig band will rest.

2. Front to Nape

  • How to measure: Place the tape at the center of your front hairline. Run it directly over the top of your head down to the nape of your neck (where your hairline ends).

3. Ear to Ear (Across Forehead)

  • How to measure: Place tape at the temple right in front of your ear. Run it up along the front hairline across the forehead to the other ear.

4. Ear to Ear (Over Top)

  • How to measure: Place tape at the top of your ear. Run it directly over the top of your head to the top of the other ear.

5. Temple to Temple (Round Back)

  • How to measure: Place tape at your temple, and wrap it around the back of your head (keeping it level) to the other temple.

6. Nape of Neck

  • How to measure: Measure the width of your hairline at the base of your neck.
